About Professional Support Coordinator Queensland (PSCQ) |
THE PSCQ is a project of the Health and Community Services Workforce Council and is funded by the Department of Family and Community Services and Indigenous Affairs to coordinate professional support for Queensland child care services eligible for the Child Care Benefit. Previously, that role was managed by 6 different organisations throughout Queensland. PSCQ is now the central contact point for services to access innovative activities and support. PSCQ operates on a regional decision making and capacity building model. Project Officers based in Brisbane and Townsville facilitate 13 regional Professional Support Networks (PSNs) that prioritise the professional development needs of workers in their area. PSCQ initially surveyed child care services and developed an implementation plan that will guide professional support over the project funding period that concludes late 2008. Services can also offer their professional support priorities by contacting their local PSN. These priorities will feed into the professional support plans that networks develop for each region. The plans are based on the collective priorities of the region to determine what professional support is offered. Membership to PSCQ is essential to access some of the support available such as the Resource Library.
