PSCQ offers professional support in three different categories - free, member services and those that you pay as you attend. For the free and pay as you attend services, you do not need to be a member of PSCQ to access them.
Free Advice PSCQ contracts Noah's Ark to provide advice and support to services via phone or email on a broad range of issues related to child care service delivery. Call 1800 112 585 or email pscq@workforce.org.au
Bicultural Support Pool Multicultural Development Association (MDA) is contracted by PSCQ to provide bicultural support including advice, resources and workers to child care services about the inclusion of children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Specialist Equipment Pool Noah's Ark is contracted by PSCQ to provide child care services access to equipment that supports the inclusion of children with disabilities into services. Firstly, services need to contact their local Inclusion Support Agency (ISA) to obtain approval for access to the Specialist Equipment Pool. Do this by contacting your local ISA directly. Web based Resources A range of web based resources are available here - http://resources.noahsark.net.au
Member Services Resource Library Noah's Ark can provide advice, support and resources to services on a broad range of issues related to child care service delivery. Resources available include hard copy books, journals, DVDs, videos and web-based resources. Some inclusion support equipment is also available through this service. Online borrowing coming soon. Rural and Remote Area Advisory Service Remote child care services can access one on one support that will include face to face visits at least twice a year and support via phone and email. Brochure Call 1800 112 585 or email supportservices@kathdicksoncentre.com.au to access.
Peer Support Groups A concept that assists workers to critically reflect on their practice to help improve their work with children and their professionalism. Trained facilitators help participants link their practice with theory. Check the current activities page to see if there is a group currently running in your region.
Online Forums (coming soon) Online forums allow workers to discuss various topics relating to child care. Forums may be regional or service type specific. Join now to share insight and advice with other workers around Queensland. Membership services will be continually updated - check here regularly for more innovative professional support available to your service.
Membership Become a member of PSCQ to access the following support. Costs per annum are as follows:
Pay as you go Workshops and other activities Workshops, seminars and training events are delivered throughout the 13 regions in the state where there is a need identified and prioritised by the PSN in that region. Various modes of delivery are used depending on the particular needs of the region. You do not need to be a member of PSCQ to attend workshops. You pay the relevant amount as shown below every time you attend an activity:

Professional support opportunities that are offered by organisations external from PSCQ. Inclusion Support Agencies Inclusion Support Agencies employ and manage a network of specialist workers, known as Inclusion Support Facilitators to work directly with eligible child care services to help include children with additional needs such as children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, children with a disability and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. Contact the ISA in your region to find out what support they can offer your service.
Indigenous Professional Support Unit The Indigenous Professional Support Unit (IPSU) is an initiative of the Inclusion and Professional Support Program, funded by the Australian Government and sponsored by the Queensland Council of Social Services Inc. IPSU provides Indigenous run chid care services with professional support that meets their needs. IPSU delivers this support by providing advice, training, resources and referrals to those services that have been identified by the Department of Family and Community services and Indigenous Affairs (FaCSIA) as eligible to receive professional support from IPSU.
